The Minister of Territorial Administration Atanga Nji Paul personal representative of the Head of State Paul Biya to the official burial of late Senator Nfon Emeritus Victor Esemingsongo Mukete posthumously raised him to the rank of the Grand Cordon of the Cameroon Order of Merit. The ceremony to pay respect to the eldest member of the Senate by his peers took place at the Yaounde Conference Centre on Thursday May 27, 2021.

Those present included, members of the upper and lower house of the National Assembly, members of the government the diplomatic corps, family and friends to pay tribute to the late senator and Statesman. He was the eldest member of the Senate and paramount ruler of the Bafaws in Kumba in the South West Region. According to the senior deputy speaker of the Senate Aboubakary Abdoulaye, representing the President of the Senate late Senator Mukete will forever affect the minds of Cameroonians as a patriot who did a lot for the country as pioneer architect in the reunification process. On behalf of the family, Prince Abel Mukete one of his sons said, «He was a visionary leader who played an important role in the development of his people and community. The Senate, which he served in various capacities contributing enormously to Cameroon’s Economic growth, would also miss him”. The second phase to celebrate the transition to Glory of the life of Emeritus Senator Nfon Mukete was at the Presbyterian Church of Cameroon (PCC) Bastos. Eulogies at the church recognized he was great man worthy to emulate and an inspiration for his large family that will miss him dearly in so many ways. Rev. Fonki Samuel PCC Moderator referred to the bible verse taken from John 5: 24 where he said as Chief Nfon Mukete transformed the culture of his people in the name of the father, son and Holy Spirit and not that of the gods of his land.
