Minister Atanga Nji Presents Cameroon’s Digital Transformation

Minister Atanga Nji Paul, represented President Paul Biya at the 40th session of the Permanent Committee of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation for Economy and Commerce (COMCEC). The session held on 4th November in Istanbul, Turkey, presided by the Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdoga, under the theme « digital transformation of the system of payment in member countries ». During an interactive ministerial session Minister Atanga said President Paul Biya has valorised the system of digital transformation in his political agenda reason why everything is put in place to optimize the development of the digital economy in Cameroon by applying a strategic plan to that effect. He cited the development of a digital infrastructure in Cameroon, the promotion of the digital industry and the training of youths in digitalisation as a clear proof of the digital transformation process in Cameroon. After the meeting, member countries were able to do a prospective evaluation of the subjects that were discussed. The Permanent Committee of the Organization of Islamic Coopration for economy and commerce that was created in 1981 aims at fostering development among member states as a result of economic and commercial cooperation. The minister also noted that Cameroon is committed in Digital Transformation Acceleration Programs, with ambitious objectives of financial inclusion, reduction of economic inequalities and facilitation of trade. The interaction and exposés allowed member countries to make a prospective evaluation of the different projects and programs. Created since 1981, COMCEC which is one of the standing committees of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) continues to strengthen economic cooperation, facilitate trade and promote sustainable development in member countries. In this context, the annual session of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation constitutes a privileged space for dialogue and assessment of progress made.
