138th International Labour Day: MINAT Staff Reflect on Social Dialogue

138th International Labour Day: MINAT Staff Reflect on Social Dialogue

The labour force of the Ministry of Territorial Administration, joined other labourers this May 1st, 2024, at the Yaounde ceremonial ground, where they marched past to commemorate the 138th International Labour Day, under the theme « Constructive Social Dialogue, Vectors of Decent work and Social Progress ». MINAT staff converged later in front of the Ministerial Department where they had a feast, led by the Secretary General of MINAT, Yves Christian Edoa Effa. It began on a light mood with general animation and karaoke. A word from Elvis Nkolo, MINAT’s staff Delegate, painted the situation of workers, he began by recognizing Labour Day as a moment of union and fraternity between subordinate staff and hierarchy which ushers in a better organization for the functioning of the Ministry. Mr Nkolo thanked the Minister through the S.G, for ensuring work progress but also appealed for hierarchy to look into the plight of workers by ensuring a smooth working environment through the provision of necessary equipment and the motivation of workers which would inject efficiency at work. In line with the theme of the labour Day which touches on social dialogue, the MINAT Secretary General, said the international Labour day has opened an opportunity  for MINAT to have social dialogue  for the promotion of a conducive working atmosphere and the promotion of social stability. He said social dialogue has to be  practical, not just a theory. He therefore encouraged interaction between senior administrators, the staff delegate and the staff. A family meal sealed the occasion.
