The Minister of Territorial Administration, this July 30, 2024, accompanied by the Governor of the Center Region, the S.D.O. of the Mfoundi Division and the seven D.Os of the various Sub Divisions, inspected 62 bags of Indian hemp being burned to ashes. Before allowing the drugs to go up in flames, the Minister commended security and administrative officials for a joint collaboration that led to the tracking of 1,614kg of Indian hemp which left Bui Division destined for Yaounde. The drugs were publicly destroyed at a dump site in Nsam, Yaounde, before the press. The Minister said the hard drugs are destroyed publicly as a sign that the forces of law and order together with administrative authorities are ever more determined to work in synergy. The Minister says drug trafficking is dangerous for the environment and the health of children and contributes to banditry. Minister Atanga Nji insists on increased collaboration to block all routes of drug trafficking. He recalled that the Head of State called for the eradication of drug trafficking during the 2024 first biannual governor’s conference thus the impounding and subsequent destruction of the drugs is a good sign of synergy between the forces concerned. The Minister said drug traffickers benefit a lot from complicity thus it is important to destroy the mechanisms that aid drug smuggling.
