An ad hoc committee meeting was held in the city of La Paz, Equatorial Guinea. It began on November 24 and brought together experts to consolidate the land and maritime borders between Cameroon and Equatorial Guinea. The head of the Cameroonian delegation is the Minister of Territorial Administration, Atanga Nji Paul, while the Equatorial Guinea delegation is led by her Minister of State for Interior and Local Administration, Faustino Ndong Esono Eyang. The ad hoc committee meeting is examining conflicts at the borders of the two countries, the exact boundary limit, and a field trip program for the demarcation proper. Opening the ad hoc committee meeting, Equatorial Guinea Minister of State for Interior and Local Administration, Faustino Ndong Esono Eyang, asked experts to work to achieve results that would be satisfactory for the two countries. On his part, Minister Atanga Nji described the meeting as a platform to consolidate the geographical and historical links between Cameroon and Equatorial Guinea. Also attending the meeting are the governors of the South Region of Cameroon, the governor of the Djibloho Province of Equatorial Guinea, and ambassadors representing the two countries, among other experts.
The meeting is being held at the behest of the presidents of the two countries, who instructed that cross-border cooperation between Cameroon and Equatorial Guinea should resume.
