Two Bishops Consecrated into the Orthodox Church in the Presence of President Biya’s Envoy

Two prelates have been consecrated into the episcopate of the Orthodox Church, this July 16th, 2023. Bishop Mathieu de Jesus, presided at the episcopal consecration of Mgr Raphaël Marie Manga and Mgr Andre Moudassi in the presence of the Minister of Territorial Administration and Personal Representative of the Head of State, Atanga Nji Paul. The event took place at Saint John the Baptist Basilica, Ekie, Yaounde. Addressing congregants, the presiding minister preached unity and fraternity in the words « let’s be united and surmount human division, be rooted in prayers particularly the word of God and cultivate fraternity ». He also called on the faithful to pray for priests and support them. After the consecration rites, the bishops were presented to the congregation amidst praise singing and joy. At the end of the day, Bishop Mathieu De Jesus handed a Marian Book to the Head of State’s representative which he said is a symbolic entrusting of the Minister and the state to the protection and intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The event was attended by administrative, political, religious and traditional dignatories among them, the governor of the Center Region, the SDO of Mfoundi Division and the D.O of Yaounde IV.
