Protestants churches under the canopy of The Council of Protestant Churches of Cameroon (CEPCA) have celebrated the 27th Reformation Week at the Evangelical Church of Cameroon. The celebrations were done on the theme « Living according to God’s Plan for Unity and Peace in Cameroon ». The peak of celebration took place this October 29, 2023, at the Evangelical Church of Cameroon, where Atanga Nji Paul, Minister of Territorial Administration, accompanied by Naseri Paul Bea, Governor of the Center Region, represented the Head of State. The high point was the reading of a declaration by CEPCA wherein, they stated the noticeably rise in hate speech, unemployment, violence, incivility, health risks, kidnapping and insecurity in Cameroon. CEPCA said they would pursue tolerance, respect for legal institutions and development of the nation to overcome these ills. A copy of the declaration was handed to MINAT by the Rt. Rev Fonki Forba, President of CEPCA and Moderator of the Presbyterian Church of Cameroon who also thanked the minister for being present for the celebration. Sunday’s event was to seal the weeklong Reformation Week celebration which began on October 22. Two preachers featured at the event: Rev Fonjua Martin of the African Protestant Church and Rev. Elsis Etaka from the Presbyterian Church who all called on the faithful to embody unity and peace for a harmonious Cameroon. Prayers were said for peace, unity and strength upon President Biya.
