French Ambassador Meets MINAT Boss Ahead of Cameroon’s 2025 Elections

The Minister of Territorial Administration, Paul Atanga Nji, granted an audience this Thursday, May 22, 2025, to the French Ambassador to Cameroon, Thierry Marchand, in the Ministry. Discussions focused on Cameroon’s upcoming 2025 elections. Speaking after the meeting,Ambassador Marchand described the encounter as timely and essential, given the political significance of the year. « 2025 is an election year. It is important for me, as France’s ambassador, to understand the organisation,structure, and timeline of the electoral process, » he said.The discussion also touched on plans to expand voter registration, both within Cameroon and among the diaspora, particularly in France. Ambassador Marchand acknowledged the Cameroonian government’s willingness to enlarge the electoral base . « The political legitimacy of a president comes from a massive turnout, said Ambassador Marchand. The French Ambassador reaffirmed France’s interest in the democratic process in Cameroon and expressed his desire to maintain open dialogue with national authorities during this crucial electoral period.
