More than one hundred road transporters’ unions and bike syndicates have pledged to demonstrate their civic responsibility by turning out massively at the polls on October 12 to elect the next President of the Republic. They paraded the streets of Yaounde on October 9, 2025, to show forth their civic engagement.
After parading the streets, thousands of bikers assembled at the esplanade of the Yaounde City Council, where they declared to follow state laws and remain patriotic. A document of the declaration was handed to the Senior Divisional Officer of Mfoundi, Emmanuel Mariel Djikdent, who in turn promised to give it immediately to his hierarchy, the Minister of Territorial Administration, for onwards transmission to the Head of State. Bikers had a plea for the administration to reduce the cost of obtaining a licence and to ease circulation as they go about their daily job. In response, the SDO lauded their patriotic spirit and promised to look into their demands.
