On the eve of Cameroon’s presidential election, the G-20, a coalition of 20 opposition parties, has declared its support for President Paul Biya. Meeting in Yaounde, at the Djeuga Palace Hotel, Dr Benz Enow Bate of the CDP party, spokesperson of the G-20, in his declaration, praised the Head of State’s leadership and recent message of hope in Maroua, citing his commitment to peace, unity and development. The G-20 urged calm among candidates and voters, warning against any self-proclaimed victories or illegal result platforms. Meanwhile, Célestin Njamen of the APAR political party read the declaration in French. The group was accompanied by others to make about 43 opposition parties. They also called for a results-based government and swift action to address water, power and road challenges.
