Calm, order and discipline marked Cameroon’s presidential election this Sunday, October 12, 2025. From the North to the South, polling stations opened on time, voters cast their ballots freely, and the process unfolded without major incident – a sign, according to the Minister of Territorial Administration, that the country remains firmly in control of its democratic destiny. In a post-election briefing at the conference hall of the ministry, Minister Atanga Nji saluted the professionalism of administrative authorities and security forces who ensured that voting took place smoothly across all 360 subdivisions. He confirmed that ballot papers for the twelve candidates were effectively delivered to the 31,655 polling stations nationwide. The minister revealed that 5,575 national and international observers were accredited to follow the process, reaffirming the government’s openness and transparency. However, he sounded a firm warning to candidates tempted to publish “imaginary results” through unauthorised platforms. “The line has been crossed too many times,” he said, stressing that any attempt to fabricate or announce results outside the legal framework will meet the heavy arm of the law. The minister reminded all stakeholders that only the constitutional council has the authority to proclaim the results of the presidential election. He urged candidates to show political maturity and channel any grievances through the established legal mechanisms. Quoting President Paul Biya’s timeless words, the minister ended his declaration with a message that resonated deeply: “Nobody should joke with Cameroon.”
