The declaration was read by the Lamido of Garoua, HRM Ibrahim El Rachidine. In the declaration was a fair assessment of the political, economic, and social landscape in Cameroon. They expressed satisfaction with the prevailing peace across the country, despite ongoing security challenges in the North-West, South-West, and Far North regions. They commended President Biya for his personal involvement in organizing the Hajj over the past six years. They highlighted that Cameroon is among the few African nations where the Head of State provides substantial financial assistance to pilgrims and ensure the participation of approximately 6,000 faithfuls annually. The leaders emphasised that President Biya’s commitment to the Muslim community exemplifies Cameroon’s tradition of religious tolerance and peaceful coexistence. They noted that, despite being a devout Catholic, President Biya has consistently supported Muslim faithful, particularly during the Hajj, reflecting the nation’s unity and diversity.
In recognition of his efforts, Cameroonian pilgrims have annually dedicated special prayers to President Biya, seeking divine blessings for his health and leadership. The traditional and religious leaders thus called upon him to run for another term, pledging their unwavering support, blessings and prayers for his success in the forthcoming election.
