MINAT Atanga Nji Exhorts Governors to Reinforce Public Order.

MINAT Atanga Nji Exhorts Governors to Reinforce Public Order.

The 2024 Second Biannual Conference of Regional Governors took place on the 18th and 19th of December, 2024, chaired by the Minister of Territorial Administration, Atanga Nji Paul. In a closing statement, the minister called on the ten governors to ensure public order by keeping watch on the activities of NGOs, associations, political parties, and religious institutions. The governors are to ensure that these entities function within the ambit of the law. The governors are also to collaborate with security officials for a hitch-free end-of-year period in the fight against aggression in taxis, banditry, urban disorder, drug abuse, and drug trafficking. Minister Atanga Nji acknowledged the works of the General Delegation for National Security and the National Gendarmerie in keeping a constant check on the security of the country. The close of the governor’s conference featured a recapitulation of the two-day activities. This was done by the Secretary General at the Ministry of Territorial Administration, Yves Christian Edoa Effa. In his concluding statements, the Minister of Territorial Administration condemned acts of feminicide in the country and irresponsible politics. He called on charlatan pastors to quit the stage; meanwhile, NGOs should shun money laundering. The MINAT boss expects governors to guide Cameroonians to work for peace and unity and respect law and order. With the 2025 presidential elections at the corner, governors have the task of sensitising political parties on their rights and duties with regards to state institutions.
