MINAT Bids Truckers and Bikers to Be Orderly

The Minister of Territorial Administration, Atanga Nji Paul, has sternly warned bike riders and truck drivers engaged in criminal activities such as aggression, robbery and murder, calling on them to end crime and be responsible. This was at the Yaounde City Council Hall, on September 26, 2023, during a session to curb insanity within truckers and bikers. Also present were administrative authorities and security officials. The Minister noted that, these drivers pose a significant threat to the safety and well-being of citizens.

Minister Atanga Nji compared the task of maintaining order to a « Moulinex » (blender) with criminals being the ingredients. In an emphatic message to assailants and highway robbers, MINAT warned that, those who refuse to be identified will face the heavy arm of the law. This shall be enforced from October 30, 2023; possession of legal documents shall be mandatory for all bike riders, economic operators involved in selling and importing bikes are obliged to index purchasers, administrative authorities in collaboration with security forces shall ensure strict compliance. At the end of the meeting, MINAT emphasized that, violators will face the heavy arm of the law. It is hoped that, these measures will help restore order and promote responsible practices within the transportation industry. The bike and truck unions all pledged to collaborate with authorities so as to ensure peace and order.
