MINAT Boss Cautions Arm Dealers to be Responsible

The Minister of Territorial Administration, Atanga Nji Paul, today 15th April 2024, at the MINAT’s conference hall, chaired a working session with dealers in fire arms and ammunition, to call their attention to constant reports of aggression from people who possess arms. MINAT Boss said dealers should trade arms with responsibility reminding them that it is a delicate sector. He equally mentioned that, it is punishable to sell arms to dubious individuals who could endanger the peace and security of the population, adding that, it is necessary to deny the sale of weapons to such individuals. The Minister mentioned the possession of fake arms permit documents and called on the arm dealers to take appropriate measures to verify the authenticity of documents before selling and to call the attention of MINAT once they spot doubtful documents . The Minister warned them to avoid contact with terrorist and high way robbers who can use fake documents to acquire weapons. He reminded the dealers that, they are working in a very delicate sector and need to be more vigilant in order not to jeopardize the security of the state. Minister Atanga Nji announced a new regulatory framework in weaponry that would be applied in the ten regions. This involves the suspension of the issuance of licences by authorities in the Regions.  He said the issuance and renewal of licences would be done at the Ministry of Territorial Administration for rigorous control.
