The Minister of Territorial Administration, Atanga Nji Paul, on October 25, 2025, briefed the press on some major action taken by the government in the wake of events that have happened in the country after the October 12 presidential election. They include the arrest of 3 terrorists on October 22nd, who were carrying explosives as they tried to invade Garoua for an attack; last Tuesday, the defence forces arrested a protester with an automatic pistol, ammunition, and a large sum of money in Yaounde, who supposedly had the evil intention to shoot people in the crowd and lay the blame on security forces, as was done in Garoua. MINAT Boss revealed that Zouhaira Hassana, a teacher in Garoua, was killed by rebels, yet the security forces were maliciously blamed for her death. MINAT said this strategy by rebels who attack within the crowd for the defence forces to be blamed has been uncovered. The minister denounced a series of protests in the country after the elections, perpetrated by a politician who, though aware of his inability to win, proclaimed himself as president. The minister stated that the state guarantees the right to protest, but this must be within the context of the law; hence, attempts to destabilise the country are illegal. Recalling the security crisis in the Northwest and Southwest regions, the Boko Haram insurgency and the post-electoral rebellions after the 1992 presidential elections, the MINAT boss said the government would not allow the country to sink into another security crisis, which would worsen the suffering of people. He cautioned parents to guide children against being instrumentalised, and he reassured the nation that the state has taken all necessary measures to maintain law and order and to prevent any incident, while urging all Cameroonians to go about their daily activities as they await the results of the presidential election from the Constitutional Council.
