He said the key issues in today’s meeting was aimed to once again familiarize the officials with policies in Cameroon regarding territorial administration.
“We are at the beginning of the year, and we start by wishing each other a Happy New Year … We also discussed a range of topics, from political parties to NGOs and associations, as the Ministry manages all these areas.” Minister Atanga Nji told the press after holding the audience. The Minister noted that the diplomats sometimes raise opposing questions, but such interactions are part of the open-door policy advocated by President Paul Biya. He explained that the Ministry remains receptive to conversations with foreign representatives and values these engagements to clarify positions and better understand the context in which Cameroon operates. Speaking after the audience the British Ambassador agreed that it is significant to understand Cameroon’s legal frameworks and maintain inclusive dialogue that engages all segments of society.
“It’s our role to ask questions, understand what’s happening, and ensure we can reflect that accurately to our governments back home,” Matt Woods, said. “We also had an interesting discussion about the importance of inclusive dialogue, especially for the Canadian High Commissioner and me as members of the Commonwealth.” he added. The meeting demonstrated the continues commitment in good diplomatic cooperation between Cameroon and its international partners.
