MINAT’s budget request for 2025 stands at 42 billion 510 million CFA Francs, with 39 billion 310 million CFA Francs as operating budget, and 3 billion 200 million CFA Francs as investment budget. Atanga Nji Paul, Minister of Territorial Administration appeared before the finance and budget committee of the national assembly on Tuesday December 3rd, 2024 to defend MINAT’s budgetary allocation for 2025.
The budget is projected to be used in ensuring security before, during and after the elections. 6 billion 759 million 436 thousand CFA francs shall cover Territorial Administration. The promotion of civil liberties and the security of persons and property shall take 2 billion 68 million 753 thousand CFA francs. The budget is further envisaged for the development of the national civil protection mechanism at 2 billion 385 million CFA francs. Also in the budget is Governance and institutional support in the territorial
administration sector which would consume 31 billion 296 million 811 thousand CFAF, with 3 billion 200 million CFAF for the Public Investment Budget (PIB), and 28 billion 96 million
811 thousand CFAF for the Operating Budget. The detail areas of the total budget include the overall strengthening of territorial control with law and order through a firm base at the Regional, Divisional and Sub Divisional offices, supervision of traditional chieftains, fight money Laundering and the financing of Terrorism, reduce vulnerability and strengthen resilience to disaster risks caused by climate change, floods, landslides and other environmental disasters. The budget would also trickle down to finishing works on ongoing construction or rehabilitation of offices and residences of the heads of
administrative units.
The budget was presented in the presence of members of the finance and budgetary commission, led by the President Honourable Moutymbo Rosette Julienne.
