The Minister of Territorial Administration, Atanga Nji Paul, this Monday March 11,2024, delivered the message of comfort from the Head of State to some heads of departments affected by heavy rains. He made rounds to some offices and schools affected by last March 8th storms. Minister Atanga Nji Paul, began at the Yaounde III Divisional Office at Efoulan where heavy rains drenched the building, destroying and blowing away parts of the roof. The minister visited other houses adjourning the Efoulan D.O’s office also affected by heavy rain. He assured the landlords, that, the houses would be repaired alongside the D.Os office in line with government policy to help victims of catastrophy. MINAT continued to GBHS Etoug Ebe, where he was with the Minister of Secondary Education, Madam Pauline Nalova Lyonga. They inspected some four buildings whose roofs were blown away by the storm affecting 23 classrooms where 10 are non operational, thus 2000 students affected.
From there, both Ministers moved to Lycée Bilingue D’application and later to Lycée General Leclerc to inspect school buildings affected by heavy rains. At each school visited, the Ministers told school authorities that the essence is to ensure the safety of students, evaluate the level of damages and do subsequent intervention. Also present during the tour was the Director of Civil Protection, Mme Ndzie Ntsama Angele, with her team noted all areas affected.
It should be noted that from the school, both ministers extended the condolences of the Head of State to a family at the Etoug Ebe neighborhood, who lost their son, Beyala Sylvain. He died at home after a furniture fell on him during the heavy rains last Friday 08, March.
