The Minister of Territorial Administration, Atanga Nji Paul, on October 8, 2025, chaired a capacity-building seminar for national and international election observers at Hotel de Ville Yaounde. The seminar aimed to prepare observers for the presidential election scheduled for October 12, 2025. The seminar was attended by the Governor of the Centre Region, Naseri Paul Bea; the Senior Divisional Officer for Mfoundi, Djikdent Emmanuel; the Inspector General of Electoral Affairs and other senior officials.In his opening remarks, Minister Atanga Nji called on the observers to be responsible, objective, and professional as they carry out their duties. He reminded them that they play a key role in ensuring transparent and credible elections, describing them as « the eyes and conscience of democracy. » He encouraged participants to make good use of the existing legal framework that guides elections in Cameroon, especially the laws governing presidential and regional elections. The minister explained that election observation is not just about being present at polling stations but about careful preparation, active monitoring, and honest reporting. furthermore Minister Atanga Nji stressed that observers must remain neutral and avoid any form of political bias or influence. He said their credibility will depend on their independence and their ability to report facts without distortion. He also urged them to work closely with the government, Elections Cameroon (ELECAM), and other institutions to promote peaceful and credible elections. The minister reminded participants that they are expected to submit detailed reports to the Ministry of Territorial Administration, reflecting their findings and recommendations. Minister Atanga Nji appealed to all participants to carry out their work with dedication and integrity and called for prayers for peace and for the successful conduct of the 2025 presidential elections under the leadership of President Paul Biya.Some 5,500 national and international observers have been accredited by MINAT for Sunday polls.
