The Minister of Territorial Administration, Atanga Nji Paul, has extended the encouragement of the Head of State to the D.O. of Idabato, Ewane Roland, shortly after he was released from captivity. Minister Atanga Nji received the administrative authority in an audience on March 18, 2025, at his cabinet in Yaounde, in the presence of the Governor of the Southwest Region, Bernard Okala Bilai; the Senior Divisional Officer of Ndian, Gilbert Guibai Baldena; and the spouse of the Divisional Officer, Mrs Ewane.

The MINAT boss said President Paul Biya activated all networks to have him released. He would have been released in January or December, but all things proved tough. The minister shared in the torturing moments of the D.O., and then he assured the public that Mr Ewane would receive medical attention. He commended the D.O. for being courageous, steadfast and determined in spite of the circumstances. He thanked Cameroonians for their prayers and concern, which also contributed positively to securing the DO’s release. Concerning the Deputy Mayor of Idabato, who is still in captivity, the minister said the government is following up for his release.
