Minister Atanga Nji has handed President Paul Biya’s assistance to 4351 farmers in Yagoua and Maga. The assistance is made up of a lump sum of two million francs distributed proportionately to the farmers. Added to this were food and non-food items, including soaps, buckets, rice, vegetable oil, sardines, blankets, and wheelbarrows. This took place in the locality of Toukou, Yagoua Sub Division in the Mayo Danay Division of the Far North Region, 13 February 2025. The gifts were given to rice farmers for losses incurred during a delayed project on farm rehabilitation earlier planned to be carried out by the World Bank. Speaking while handing the gifts, the MINAT boss told them that the head of state is aware of their situation and they should always have trust and confidence in the government. The minister admonished them against using violence to present their problems and asked them to rather table a report of their grievances to administrative, political, traditional, or religious leaders, which would be further channelled to the head of state. Present during the aid distribution were the Mayor of Yagoua, Lirawa Pierre; the D.O., Souaibou Zouroumba; the SDO, Ndongo Ndongo Jean Lazard; and other active forces. In a message of appreciation, the traditional ruler of Toukou, Mina Albert, was joyful that the population has been relieved of the suffering, hoping that the farms shall be rehabilitated for a resumption of farming. He channelled the thanks to President Paul Biya through the MINAT Boss. The entire population was satisfied after receiving the financial and material items.
