Minister Atanga Nji Paul, December 6, 2024, faced the Senate in plenary to expound bill N ° 239 / PJL / SEN / 3L
governing Civil Protection. Chaired by Senate Vice-President, Nfor Tabetando, clarifications on the bill were provided to questions raised by members of the Upper House and the bill was adopted. The bill states clear mechanisms for the functioning of civil protection in Cameroon including financial and juridical aspects. The bill on civil protection proposes a revamp of the 1986 laws which are now considered obsolete. In the bill is an improved approach to disaster management to ensure effective response and resilience.
