Less than a month to Cameroon’s presidential election, the Minister of Territorial Administration, Atanga Nji Paul, convened a security meeting in Yaoundé on 15th September aimed at safeguarding the 2025 October 12 poll. The closed-door meeting held at the Yaoundé City Council Hall brought together administrative officials from the Centre Region, forces of law and order and representatives of ELECAM. Discussions centred on refining security measures and electoral materials to ensure that voters across the region can cast their ballots safely.
Addressing the officials, Minister Atanga Nji affirmed the government’s determination to maintain order before, during and after voting day. He stressed that each administrative unit must remain alert and proactive, providing real-time assessments of conditions so the State can respond swiftly to challenges. The MINAT boss also appealed to political actors to show greater responsibility in the political arena, preserving peace, national unity and social cohesion values he described as essential achievements of the Cameroonian nation.
