To Guarantee Security MINAT, Instruct Motorcycle Importers to Register Bikes on Sale

In a bid to tackle the mounting challenges associated with importation and registration of bikes in Cameroon, the Minister of Territorial Administration, Atanga Nji Paul, organized a crucial meeting at the Yaounde City Council Hall, on October 6, 2023. It brought together prominent bike importers, Governors of the Centre and Littoral regions, SDOs of Wouri and Mfoundi alongside mayors. Given the urgency of the situation, Minister Atanga Nji emphasized on the mandatory requirement for bike identification at the point of purchase. Still at the meeting, an expert from the Ministry of Transport provided a detailed explanation of how the identification process is done. The issue at hand is, increasing insecurity posed by unidentified bikers in Douala and Yaounde. This lack of identification has made it difficult to track down individuals accountable for criminal activities. Following resolutions from the meeting, stricter control will be implemented to curb illegal activities perpetrated by bikers for a safer environment.
