Atanga Nji Paul, Minister of Territorial Administration, on October 4, 2024, in Yaounde received a delegation of the Union of the Peoples of Cameroon (UPC) political party at his Ministry. The delegation, led by the UPC Secretary General, Honorable Robert Bapooh Lipot, met the Minister to reaffirm their coalition with the ruling Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement (CPDM). During the meeting, Hon. Bapooh Lipot reiterated that the UPC remains firmly aligned with the CPDM, highlighting that the alliance is legitimate and ongoing. He presented the Alliance Decision, originally signed by the late Secretary-General Augustin Frédéric Kodock. Hon. Bapooh Lipot announced that the UPC will support President Paul Biya’s candidacy in the upcoming 2025 presidential elections, a decision in line with the recommendations of the party’s Congress and commitments made by Kodock. He emphasized the UPC’s appreciation for President Biya’s recognition of national heroes, including Ruben Um Nyobé, Laurent-Félix Moumié, Ernest Ouandié, and Abel Kingué.“Thanks to President Biya’s leadership, the UPC is now represented in the Senate of Cameroon,” he stated. He further affirmed that the party’s political vision aligns with that of President Biya. Lipot concluded by asserting that any claims of UPC support outside this established alliance is unauthorized.
